Melanie Stern recently announced a Tony Hill Memorial Award planned for January 30th. Here is her message:
For the last 23 years Tony had been on the MLK Convocation Committee a collaboration between UCSC, NAACP and other people and organizations.
This year the new director of Arts and Lectures, Jeanette Pilak and the committee wish to create a Tony Hill Memorial Award that honors bridge-building, communication and collaboration across cultures in our community. This award will be announced along with a slide montage of his work.
The 2008 MLK Convocation will be held at 7pm on January 30th at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium. The Keynote Speaker will be Juilan Bond. This event is free and I hope you all will join me in attending.
