PERCY ABRAM
Head of School, Gateway School
Percy moved to Santa Cruz in June 2008, with his wife (Nina), five year-old daughter (Claudia), and two year-old son (Carlos) and works as the Head of Gateway School. Gateway School is a Kindergarten – 8th grade independent school on Santa Cruz’s west side. Prior to joining Gateway School, he was the Upper Division Director at Brentwood School in Los Angeles. An LA native, Percy spent his high school years in Walnut Creek, in San Francisco’s East Bay. He received his B.A. (Economics) and M.A. (Education) degrees from UCLA, and received his Ph.D. in Education from Stanford University. Percy remains committed to the issues of social justice, equity, and multiculturalism in schools. He looks forward to meeting local leaders in politics, medicine, business, and environmental and social justice, anticipating that his experiences with LSCC will allow him to learn more about these issues as they pertain to the residents of Santa Cruz County.
