Class 24 is shaping up nicely. Preparations are being made for the August 26th Orientation. Dominican Hospital has once again graciously offered to host this. We will be meeting in Rooms 1,2 and 3 located at the lower level of the hospital. Dominican will provide a light buffet meal and you will have an opportunity to meet Dominican Hospital President, Dr. Nanette Mickeiwicz. This meeting will be the starting point of the development of our network of friendships. We will be taking individual photos of everyone (head and shoulder) for the class yearbook this evening.
Even though the formal deadline has passed to sign up for the class there are still a few openings. If you know someone who is interested, they can still join us. Please direct them to this website for all the information they need to apply or have them call Dave Vincent at 662-3881.

Hello Leadersip Santa Cruz County Family,
I have attached a paper written for LSCC members regarding the Light Brown Apple Moth by David Cavanaugh, past President of the Santa Cruz County Farm Bureau and Class 22 LSCC graduate. David is also past President of the Santa Cruz County Fair Board and has a Bachelor of Agricutural Sciences degree from Cal Poly Pomona.
I am sending you this paper because I thought it was well written and worth consideration; David has presented many facts worth considering as we deal with the LBAM remediation efforts. Thanks! Gary

There is a national campaign organized to display the American flag on September 11th, 2007 outside every House , Apartment, and Workplace in the United States.
Every individual should display an American flag on this anniversary of our country's worst tragedy. We do this in honor of those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and for those who today are fighting terrorism at home and abroad.
Thank you for your participation.

The April and May leadership classes involved traveling the North County coast line and the Pajaro Valley. Julie Huffington Barrett opened the Seymour Center at Long Marine Lab and arranged a wonderful tour. You could have heard a pin drop as Professor Gary Griggs,PhD gave us a fantastic presentation about the changes in coastal environment and habitat over the last hundred years, he also gave us his projection for future challenges in the climate, ocean levels, and wildlife in the Monterey Bay. We also learned about the migration habits of birds and sealife.
Dr.Griggs is leading a much needed expansion of Long Marin lab, we are convinced that the value of Long Marine Lab research and development is well worth supporting the growth of lab facilities.
